The past Friday, December 14th the Lebanese-born Armenian violinist Ara Malikian featuring System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian released “The Rough Dog” song that Tankian himself described as a “totally whacky fun track I sang on about a dog.”
“The Rough Dog”will appear on Malikian’s forthcoming album, Royal Garage.
“Royal Garage World Tour” it’s Ara Malikian’s latest project, is a tribute to garage bands. The artist found a charm and characteristic sounds, taking them as “areas of culture, the exchange of music and places of artistic creation” so important that pays tribute to the current tour, passing through Portugal in May 2018.
Ara Malikian, an interpreter and composer, began to play influenced by his father. Despite the childhood lived in the middle of the Lebanese civil war, Ara Malikian’s talent allowed him to have access to prestigious European schools, having had lessons with renowned professors.
Ara Malikian, at 50 years old, has already recorded more than 40 albums, has formed an orchestra and participated in the production of countless shows.
In life, as in his career, he is governed by two philosophies: “music is for everyone and everyone must have access, be it classical or popular, music is in constant mutation, having to absorb sounds from different cultures, assimilating them for their own language and compositions.” he says.
