Talk to System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian, as I have countless times over the years, and you will find Tankian is as much, or even more, of an activist than he is a musician. And that passion he brings to his activism is particularly strong when it comes to his Armenian roots.
So even when he had COVID recently and was forced to postpone System's two shows at Los Angeles' Banc Of California stadium, he was more than happy to take time out to discuss his role with TUMO, the Center For Creative Technologies, which started in Armenia and has now grown globally.
Founded by Sam and Sylva Simonian, the incredibly ambitious program offers free education and training to teens in 14 different subjects, from music, filmmaking and animation to programming, robotics and 3D modeling.
